Quality Mark Wales
The Importance of The Quality Mark
The Quality Mark is a joint initiative between the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and was launched in 2002 to help drive up standards. The benefits of the Quality Mark to LEA’s, schools, supply teachers and agencies are immense, the scheme will help both schools and teachers become more confident about the agencies they use.
By using a Quality Mark Holder schools are ensuring that the necessary checking procedures are in place and that the providers they work with are up-to-date with the latest DCSF guidelines, teachers will be confident that they have selected an accredited and reputable service that will add value to their experience as supply teachers.
Quality Mark Holders are required to have standards covering the way supply teachers are recruited, selected and supplied to schools. To achieve the Quality Mark applicants are required to undergo a rigorous assessment process including a comprehensive on-site audit. Once holders of the Quality Mark, re-accreditation audits are carried out every two years to ensure standards are being adhered to.
Standards which must be met when recruiting candidates are – up-to-date and valid CRB check or in the process of applying for one, List 99, two written references, permission to work in the UK, GTC registration, health and identity checks, face to face interviews.
By choosing an agency that holds the Quality Mark you will be assured that you will receive a professional and transparent service which is essential to ensure safe recruitment.
